Artist Studio
Staten Island, New York, NY / 2008—
Matthew Schnepf collaborated with Selldrof Architects to design an overhead addition to a small, residence-turned art studio on Staten Island. The new addition hinges on the idea that the existing studio / pied-à-terre (French, "foot on the ground") would remain intact and serve as a literal foot for a light, modern addition above. The existing building becomes a semi-public gallery while the upper floors house a large open-plan workspace and the relocated pied-à-terre.
