Matthew Schnepf established his architectural firm in New York City in 2007. The office relocated to Wassaic, NY in 2020, but we continue to serve clients in New York City and throughout New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and beyond.

MSA specializes in high-end residential and commercial architecture. We have experience in dense urban environments and remote country landscapes, and we excel and blending old with new. In the classic tradition of architecture, we believe that every detail of the site, interior, furniture, and hardware should be fully designed and integrated into a cohesive whole.

Our approach to design is meticulous and understated. We believe that architecture should be modern, minimal, and refined. The scale and proportion of space, the effect of light and shadow, the subtlety of sound, the color and touch of material, and the rigor of every detail should be considered. A well-designed space should be beautiful, practical, and familiar. We strive for architecture that is contextual, human, and environmentally conscious.

We believe good design comes from good process. Clear communication, mutual trust, and an iterative approach are critical to a successful project. We strive to streamline the design process with our clients, solicit feedback from engineers, experts, and contractors early and often, and produce documentation that is as clear and concise as our architecture. We develop every project with thoughtfulness, clarity, and rigor.
